Rice harvesting in Rio Grande do Sul reached 99.58% of the cultivated area in the third week of May. The survey, conducted by the Rio Grande do Sul Rice Institute (Irga), was released this Thursday (21). Of the total 891,908 hectares destined for cultivation in the 2025/2026 crop, 888,206 have already been harvested, consolidating the end of the work in the main producing regions of the State. The Southern Zone was the first region to complete the work, reaching 100% of the area, followed by the Outer Coastal Plain, with 99.98%. Next are the Campanha (99.93%), the Inner Coastal Plain (99.46%), the Western Border (99.25%) and the Central Region (99.21%). According to the Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Division (Dater), Irga already considers the harvest finished and will soon publish the final consolidated data for this crop.
