NY raw sugar market interrupted its upward streak this Thursday, with July 2026 dropping 39 points to US$ 14.99 c/lb, in a profit-taking and technical correction move after the front-month contract reached US$ 15.38 c/lb on Wednesday, its highest level since late March.
 
U.S. dollar settled the last session at R$ 4.9809/US$ (PTAX), up 1.4% on the day and at its highest level since May 1st, reflecting increased risk aversion in the domestic scenario.
 
CS Brazil: rainfall reached parts of the region, negatively affecting crushing operations, especially in Paraná and southern Mato Grosso do Sul, where accumulated precipitation ranged between 50 mm and 100 mm. In São Paulo, rainfall between 10 mm and 40 mm caused temporary interruptions in crushing activities.
 
CS Brazil: new rainfall is expected to affect virtually the entire region between May 15th and May 18th, with the highest volumes forecast for Paraná and southern Mato Grosso do Sul, potentially reaching between 50 mm and 100 mm.
 
CS Brazil: in São Paulo, expected rainfall accumulation ranges between 10 mm and 30 mm, while precipitation in other states should remain lighter and more irregular.
 
CS Brazil: temperatures are expected to decline again between May 20th and May 21st, although weather models indicate colder conditions will remain more concentrated in southern Brazil, reducing frost risks for cane fields in the region.
 
U.S. House passed legislation authorizing the commercialization of E15 gasoline year-round across the country, eliminating the seasonal restrictions currently applied to the fuel.
 
U.S.: according to DATAGRO estimates, if the measure is permanently implemented, ethanol consumption could increase by between 18 billion and 19 billion liters per year within a 2–3 year horizon.
 
Philippines: cane crushing in the 25/26 crop (Sep/Aug) reached 21.59 mmt through May 3rd (-3.9% YoY), while raw sugar production totaled 1.72 mmt (-5.0% YoY).
 
Philippines: the Sugar Regulatory Administration estimates that raw sugar production in the 25/26 crop year will total 1.92 mmt, below the 2.09 mmt registered in 24/25.
 
Philippines: the outlook for the 26/27 crop year remains challenging amid higher fertilizer and fuel costs, in addition to drier weather conditions.
 
Ukraine: according to the Ministry of Economy, beet planting for the 26/27 crop year reached 187.2 k hectares through May 12th, equivalent to 95% of the total planned area of 197.2 k hectares.
