NY July 2026 raw sugar fell 27 points yesterday to US$ 14.54 c/lb, extending the recent profit-taking and producer hedge-fixing movement.
Brazil exported 1.183 mmt of sugar in April (-23.5% YoY), totaling 7.221 mmt year-to-date (-0.6% YoY).
Brazil: in April, Algeria led as the main destination of Brazilian sugar, with 178 k mt (15.0% of total exports), followed by Saudi Arabia (11.9%) and Iraq (8.5%).
Brazil: ethanol exports reached 86 million liters in April (+13.4% YoY), totaling 262 million liters year-to-date (-50.4% YoY).
Brazil: the U.S. was the main destination of Brazilian ethanol in April with 29 million liters (33.7%), followed by South Korea (29.1%) and the Netherlands (17.6%).
Brazil: ethanol imports totaled only 12 million liters in April (-71.6% YoY), the lowest volume for the month since 2022, totaling 365 million liters year-to-date (+243.9% YoY).
Brazil: import volume in April originated mainly from Argentina (82.8%), while the import window for U.S. ethanol via the Port of Suape remained closed throughout the month.
Brazil: the National Energy Policy Council (CNPE) meeting, which was expected to ratify the increase in the ethanol blend in gasoline, was postponed to next Monday, May 11.
U.S.: ethanol production rose 0.8% last week to 1.017 mbpd (-0.3% YoY), while ethanol stocks increased 0.5% on the week to 26.020 million barrels (+3.3% YoY).
U.S.: gasoline demand fell 3.2% last week to 8.813 mbpd, but remains 1.1% higher YoY.
Guatemala: 25/26 cane crushing reached 23.81 mmt on April 26th (+2.9% YoY), while sugar production totaled 2.51 mmt (+6.8% YoY) over the same period.
Guatemala: DATAGRO maintains its 25/26 sugar production estimate at 2.79 mmt (+10.0% YoY), supported by improved industrial yields.
Ukraine: according to the Ministry of Economy, 26/27 sugar beet planting reached 182.9 thousand hectares as of May 5, equivalent to 92.7% of the planned total area of 197.2 thousand hectares.
