NY raw sugar prices extended losses on Monday, with July 2026 dropping 24 points to US$ 13.35 c/lb, the lowest level since April 17th, pressured by a global Trade Flow surplus and lower oil prices amid progress in U.S.–Iran negotiations.

CFTC: funds and small specs increased their net short position in NY raw sugar from 132,096 lots on June 9th to 142,174 lots on June 16th.

CS Brazil: cane crushing in the region reached 41.55 mmt in 2H May (-13.1% YoY), totaling 144.71 mmt since April 1st (+15.8% YoY), according to UNICA.

CS Brazil: industrial yields rose 1.1% to 125.87 kg TRS/tc in 2H May, while the sugar production mix declined 8.0 p.p. YoY to 44.17%.

CS Brazil: sugar production reached 2.20 mmt in 2H May (-25.6% YoY), totaling 6.84 mmt in the cumulative period since April 1st (-2.0% YoY).

CS Brazil: ethanol production increased 4.6% YoY to 2.13 billion liters in 2H May, of which 413 million liters came from corn (+12.4% YoY).

CS Brazil: since April 1st, total ethanol production reached 7.54 billion liters (+31.5%), of which 1.57 billion liters were produced from corn (+8.6%).

CS Brazil: hydrous ethanol sales for the domestic market reached 1.77 billion liters in May (-2.8% YoY), while anhydrous ethanol sales totaled 1.09 billion liters (+1.7% YoY).

Brazil: last week, hydrous ethanol prices at the pump were more competitive than gasoline in nine states, which together account for 66.2% of Otto-cycle fuel consumption in 2026, compared with 49.6% in the same period last year.

Mexico: cane crushing reached 239.9 kmt in the week ending June 13th (+80% YoY), bringing the 25/26 crop cumulative total to 48.8 mmt (+7.3% YoY).

Mexico: sugar production reached 5.26 mmt in the 25/26 crop year-to-date (+10.7% YoY), while agricultural productivity reached 68.04 mt/ha (+9.4% YoY).

Mexico: sugar exports totaled 128 k mt in May (-30.3% YoY), reaching 744 k mt cumulatively in the 25/26 crop year (+4.6% YoY), according to Conadesuca.
