NY May 2026 raw sugar dropped 7 points yesterday to US$ 13.68 c/lb, the lowest level for the front-month contract since February 9th, 2018, reflecting the perception of greater sugar availability in the short term.
 
NY #11: losses were partially limited by a sharp rally in the oil market following the failure of peace negotiations between the U.S. and Iran and the imposition of a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz by the U.S.
 
Thailand: average precipitation in March totaled only 17.2 mm, down 53.4% YoY, contributing to the advancement of crushing operations.
 
Thailand: mills processed an average of 914 k mt of cane per day in March (up 80.5% YoY).
 
Thailand: cumulative cane crushing reached 104.39 mmt on April 5th (up 13.4% YoY), reversing the initial crushing delay and marking the highest level for the period since 18/19.
