Brazil fuel consumption hits new record in April

● Hydrous ethanol consumption in Brazil reached 1.83 billion liters in April, a new record for the month, with a slight increase of 0.1% YoY, as the biofuel regained competitiveness at the pump, according to ANP data.
● Cumulative hydrous ethanol consumption since January totaled 6.80 billion liters, down 5.0% YoY.
● Regular Gasoline (E30) consumption rose 3.3% YoY, reaching 3.94 billion liters in April, also a record for the month. Year-to-date consumption totals 15.79 billion liters, up 3.7% YoY.
● As a result, total Otto-cycle fuel consumption in Brazil reached 5.22 billion liters, in gasoline equivalent, up 2.5% YoY in April and setting a new record for the month. Between January and April, cumulative consumption reached 20.55 billion liters, in gasoline equivalent, up 3.9% YoY and also a record for the period.
● In this context, ethanol (hydrous + anhydrous) accounted for 47.2% of the Brazilian Otto-cycle fuel market in April, the highest monthly share since April 2021.
● Even so, according to DATAGRO estimates, the share of flex-fuel vehicles fueled with hydrous ethanol declined from 29.2% in April 2025 to 28.5% in April 2026.
● Diesel B (B15) consumption also reached a record for April, totaling 5.65 billion liters, up 3.2% YoY.
