U.S. Oil Inventories Fall to Four-Decade Lows  

● U.S. commercial crude oil inventories declined by 17.2 million barrels in the week ending June 12, totaling 758.5 million barrels (-7.9% YoY), according to the Energy Information Administration (EIA).

● This marks the lowest level for the period since 1984, when inventories stood at 746.6 million barrels during the second week of June.

● The Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) also posted a sharp decline, falling by 8.94 million barrels over the week to 340.3 million barrels (-15.4% YoY).

● According to the EIA, this represents the lowest SPR level for the second week of June since 1983, when reserves totaled 328.0 million barrels.

● At 3:10 p.m. ET, Brent August 2026 was trading at US$ 79.27/bbl, up 0.4% on the day, while WTI July 2026 was rising 0.7%, trading at US$ 76.56/bbl.

CS Brazil: cane crushing slows down to 41.23 mmt in 2H May  

 
   
● Mostly due to a rainy weather, cane crushing in CS Brazil reached 41.23 mmt in 2H May, down 12.9% YoY, according to MAPA.

● Still, on a cumulative basis since Apr 1st, cane crushing totaled 146.10 mmt until May 31, 16.2% more than same period of 25/26.

● On average, mills reduced the sugar production mix by 7.1 p.p. YoY to 44.53% in 2H May.

● Industrial yield came virtually at par with last year’s, at 125.29 kg YTRS/tc in 2H May.

● As a result, sugar production reached 2.19 mmt in 2H May, down 24.8% YoY, totaling 6.81 mmt since Apr 1st (-3.1% YoY).

● Ethanol production increased only 2.8% YoY to 2.10 bi liters in 2H May, of which 411 million liters coming from corn (+9.2% YoY).
