India: Monsoons Remain Below Historical Average  

● Monsoon rains in India remain irregular and below the historical average in the main sugarcane-producing regions.

● Last week, between July 16 and 22, average precipitation in India’s main sugarcane-producing regions reached 60.83 mm, a volume 10.9% below the historical average for the period.

● Since the start of the monsoon season on June 1, average cumulative rainfall in India has reached 295.4 mm, 20.5% below the climatological norm.

● The most critical situation is in Karnataka, where 270 mm of rainfall has been recorded since the beginning of June, a volume 26.1% below the historical average.

● In Maharashtra, cumulative rainfall reached 409 mm between June 1 and July 22, 7.6% below the historical average.
