Brazil temporarily raises anhydrous ethanol blend in gasoline to 32%
● Brazil’s National Energy Policy Council (CNPE) approved an increase in the mandatory anhydrous ethanol blend in gasoline from 30% to 32% (E32).
● The measure will remain in force for 180 days and may be extended for an additional equal period.
● According to the Ministry of Mines and Energy, E32 could reduce gasoline imports by around 900 million liters per year.
● Technical tests indicated no relevant impacts on vehicle performance, including in non-flex-fuel engines.
● Studies on higher blends, including E35, remain underway.
