● Hydrous ethanol consumption in Brazil reached 1.799 billion liters in March, up 1.1% compared to March of last year, according to preliminary ANP figures.
● In the January-to-March cumulative, hydrous ethanol consumption totaled 4.966 billion liters (-6.8%).
● Gasoline C consumption grew 2.1% year-on-year to 4.172 billion liters in March, totaling 11.852 billion liters since January (+8.2%).
● This points to a significantly more active Otto cycle fuel market in 2026 — from January to March, a total of 15.328 billion liters of gasoline equivalent of Otto cycle fuels were consumed, an increase of 4.4% compared to the same quarter of 2025.
● There is still potential for a further recovery in hydrous ethanol consumption — approximately 27% of the flex-fuel vehicle fleet was fueled with hydrous ethanol in March, compared to 29.2% a year ago, indicating that there is room to win back consumers who have shifted to gasoline.
