THE DATAGRO announced, this Thursday (30), the climate report about the last days of April 2026, highlighting the irregularity of rainfall and the thermal contrasts between regions of Brazil.

Contrasting temperatures mark the end of April.

On Tuesday morning (28), the South region woke up with cold weather, especially in mountain areas.

Cities in Rio Grande do Sul such as São Francisco de Paula, Quaraí, and Caxias do Sul recorded minimum temperatures below 1°C. In Paraná and Santa Catarina, temperatures ranged between 8°C and 12°C, with notable lows in General Carneiro (PR) at 2.5°C and Lages (SC) at 2.4°C.

In the Central-West and Southeast regions, on the other hand, the highs exceeded 34°C in some locations on Tuesday (28) and Wednesday (29) afternoons.

Irregular rainfall favors agricultural operations.

The cold front brought rain to parts of the country. In the Southern Region, the highest accumulations initially occurred in Rio Grande do Sul, later spreading to the other states.

In the Southeast, the most intense rainfall was concentrated in the grain-producing areas, further south in São Paulo. In the remaining regions of São Paulo and in Minas Gerais, dry weather prevailed, benefiting sugarcane and coffee harvesting operations.

In Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul there were isolated and poorly distributed rains, while Goiás continued with dry weather.

Winter corn planting completed in the country.

The dry weather benefited crop development. Planting of winter corn has been completed in Brazil, while the soybean and summer corn harvests are nearing completion.

For sugarcane and coffee, the harvest pace has picked up in recent weeks, after several producers postponed the start due to rain. In Matopiba, rainfall has decreased in intensity over the last 10 days.

Forecast indicates more rain in the South until Saturday (2)

The weather forecast indicates that the cold front will still cause rain in southern Brazil, reaching an accumulated volume of between 40 and 60 mm in the region by Saturday (2). In the other states of the Central-South, the forecast indicates drier weather, with chances of rain only in southern São Paulo, Mato Grosso do Sul and the eastern part of Mato Grosso. Rain is expected to return to the Central-South region only in the second half of May.
