● The past few days have been marked by heavy rains across much of the Center-South region, particularly yesterday (17). According to DATAGRO’s daily climate monitoring, some weather stations recorded rainfall exceeding 50 mm in a single day in Paraná, southern Mato Grosso do Sul, and the Presidente Prudente micro-region in São Paulo.
● In these regions, the cumulative rainfall in May, through the 17th, has already exceeded the climatological normal. Recorded rainfall ranges from 110 to 190 mm, while the historical average for the period in these areas ranges from 85 to 110 mm.
● These rains are heightening concerns regarding the crushing pace and the accumulation of TRS in the cane fields. Meanwhile, the other sugarcane-growing regions continue to experience dry weather and temperatures slightly above the normal.
● According to the weather forecast, new rains may be observed next weekend, and the first half of June may also see above-average rainfall in the Central-South region.
